Feasibility of pressurant gas storage in glass microspheres for pressurisation of satellite propellant tanks
Short Description
The HELIOSPHERE project investigates the feasibility of pressurising propellant tanks by means of helium stored under high pressure in micro glass microspheres. With this technology significant mass and volume savings are possible with respect to blowdown and pressure regulated systems.
The proposed project will investigate the stability of the glass microspheres and operational limits and perform a numerical study on the influence of performance parameters.
