Content Description

When speaking of the Moon Village, Jan Wörner emphasizes that it is not about houses, churches, or town halls. Instead, it embodies the true essence of a village: people coming together to live and work in the same place. In this case, that place is the Moon.

The Moon Village envisions a collaborative, international base where the capabilities of different spacefaring nations converge—through robotics, astronaut missions, and beyond. Its participants may be engaged in diverse activities, from fundamental science and research, to commercial ventures such as resource extraction, or even future tourism.

This event offers a unique opportunity to explore how humanity's shared presence on the Moon could become a platform for cooperation, innovation, and discovery.

Prof. Dr. Jan Wörner was Director General of the European Space Agency (ESA) from 2015 to 2021. He is now Scientific Director of the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS).
