Austria is a strong supporter of Earth Observation with a thriving space economy, exemplified by successful startups like blackshark.AI and GATE Space. The country hosts an ESA Business Incubation Center (ESA BIC), an ESA Idea Factory in Vienna, and a ground-based facility in Innsbruck operated by the Austrian Space Forum – a respected research organization organizing this Hackathon. Connect with local experts and network with key stakeholders and investors at the event from 16-18 May 2025.

Additionally, the local winners will qualify for the European competition, where they will receive the following prizes:- 1st place: €5,000
- 2nd place: €3,000
- 3rd place: €1,000

The top 3 teams across all competing hackathons will each be awarded an additional 6 months of expert mentoring.

About the organisers
The Austrian Space Forum (OeWF) is a private space research institution focused on planetary research and STEAM education. As ESA's first Ground-Based Facility in Austria, OeWF operates a vertical treadmill for gravity research while connecting experts across disciplines. With an extensive network in the European space community and specialized expertise in Mars mission simulations, the OeWF helps Cassini Hackathon participants develop practical solutions with real-world applications.
