14th ESPI Autumn Conference: The post-2030 European Space Agenda

The online conference will gather high-level officials of the European space sector and investigate the role that space can and must play in overcoming key challenges for the future of Europe and the world.

ESPI is the European think-tank for space. The Institute is a not-for-profit organization based in Vienna, World capital of space diplomacy, providing decision-makers with an informed view on mid to long-term issues relevant to Europe’s space activities since 2003.

Content Description

The Autumn Conference is a yearly ESPI event where policy and industry stakeholders in the space sector come together to discuss issues that affect Europe and the rest of the world. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, ESPI decided this year to make its first online conference. 

This year’s Autumn Conference will address the topic of "The post-2030 European Space Agenda" to discuss ways to shape Europe’s space strategy for the decades to come. A particular focus will be placed on topics identified as key challenges for the future of Europe and the world and on the role that space can and must play in overcoming them.

Program

The fourteenth Autumn Conference will span across one week (28th of September – 2nd of October), with one panel every day from 15:30 to 17:00 CEST. It will be organised along the following five sessions:

  1. Space and the European Green Deal – Harnessing space for a greener future
  2. Streaming, 5G/6G, Internet of Things – Space in the future of connectivity
  3. Space: a relevant tool for the changing security landscape
  4. A new impetus to Europe’s international cooperation in space
  5. Which strategy for future challenges?

Target Audience

The sessions will allow to discuss the topics at hand, and the remote audience will be able to ask questions to the speakers through the online conference software used. Participants to the Conference include stakeholders from the public and industry domains, as well as actors from non-space domains, in order to bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas on how space can better contribute to the future.
