The purpose of EUMETSAT is to supply weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products to the National Meteorological Services of the member and cooperating states in Europe, and other users worldwide. Austria has been a member state since 1993. In 2016, the total budget of the organisation was 532 million EUR, and Austria's contribution amounted to 9 million EUR.
