Planning and configuration of complete satellite networks in the QV-band is an outstanding complex task. Fade mitigation techniques to countermeasure the significant atmospheric attenuation in QV-band or multiple spot beams with frequency reuse makes it difficult to quantify, for instance, the overall network capacity or to determine the optimum setup for the various system parameters.

Since such information will be definitely required for future research and commercial development of QV-band systems, we propose to develop a SW tool able to optimize a complete QV-band satellite system dedicated for communication purposes.

The SW tool will incorporate precise modelling of all relevant aspects of QV-band satellite networks and will be able to search for an optimal solution for various scenarios by means of a genetic algorithm.
