Satellite telemetry for earth observation (EO) need a broadband link from the satellite to the ground. The Q/V band (38/48 GHz) provides this bandwidth and allows to use smaller antennas than with lower frequencies. The challenge in the operation of this band is the high fade dynamics caused by the channel.

We will design for this band an optimised adaptive coding and modulation schema taking into account the tracking of Low Earth Orbit satellites too. The results of the project shall help the consortium to be among the first suppliers of a high data rate modem supporting Q/V band, which will become important in the future.
