BRITE-DATA

BRITE Constellation Data Collection and Analysis

Short Description

BRITE Constellation will consist of six nanosatellites dedicated to obtain stellar photometry data of the brightest stars in the sky and is contributed by Austria, Canada and Poland. The first two members of the constellation are the Austrian spacecraft BRITE-Austria and UniBRITE, launched in February 2013.

The goal of this project is to collect, validate and analyse the data from the BRITE Science instruments (telescope with a CCD sensor). The results are light curves (brightness measurement over time) from all stars in the field brighter than magnitude 4 and with reduced accuracy from stars brighter than magnitude 6. The obtained data will improve the knowledge about massive luminous stars in the solar neighbourhood.
