Content Description
This workshop describes the results of the finishing FFG funded project “ACube4Floods”. Goals of this project have been
- To develop an enhanced Earth Observation (EO) data based model for monitoring flood events in Austria, using the combined Copernicus Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 data that are jointly stored in the Austrian Data Cube (EODC Earth Observation Data Centre),
- To develop strategies for quantifying the impact of flood events on the local community by analysing movement patterns from mobile data,
- To present a way for visualising all flood related EO data based information in a central graphical user interface, as requested during a previous user workshop, and
- To add the here calculated flood related information into the governmental event documentation.
Within this workshop, the consortium members intend to present the project’s outcomes, to discuss the results of a joint Sentinel-1 / -2 workflow for flood monitoring and of additionally calculated flood related information, to show an concept for a possible data web service for these results, and to demonstrate the use of this enhanced flood monitoring by governmental stakeholders.
Program
The online event will take place on January 19, 2022 from 14-17h (Vienna time). It will cover presentations and discussions on following topics:
- Scope of the ACube4Floods project
- Workflows for flood monitoring, using Copernicus' Sentinel-1 (microwave) and Sentinel-2 (optical) imagery
- Analysis of mobile data to quantify the impact of flood events on the society
- Graphical User Interface, collecting all flood related geo-information on a centralised platform
- Governmental flood event documentation
