SVEQ - GNSS Receiver SW Verification & Qualification Framework

The present activity aims at supporting inevitable product evolution by providing a framework for Software Verification and Qualification (VQ), implementing it in Austrian Aerospace’s (AAE’s) GNSS receiver software and demonstrating its suitability by applying it to the transition from a receiver providing on-board spacecraft navigation functionality to a qualified scientific precise orbit determination instrument.

TM/TC Modem - Telemetry and Telecommand Modem and Interface Processing Equipment for EGSE and Ground Stations

This ASAP 8 project is designed to enhance the flexibility and functionality of our TT&C SCOE and Payload EGSE (Electrical Ground Support Equipment) solutions, but also to extend our business to the ground station area by elaborating the detailed requirements, system and detail design for a modem, both for EGSE and ground station systems. The concepts and design will be validated by practical investigations and evaluations.

TMIS - Topographic Mars Information System

One of the instruments on board of the European Mars Express Spacecraft is the HRSC (High Resolution Stereo Camera). The project group developed the topographic information system TMIS - arelational spatial data catalogue - for managing, archiving and distributing the captured images.

TMIS.ascrea - Automatic Selection, Categorization and Recognition of Areomorphic Features

The project focused on an automated areomorphic (i.e. Mars-related morphological) analysis based on DTM data. Automation has become inevitable due to the large amount of available data.

TMIS.morph - Areomorphological Analysis of Data from HRSC on Mars Express

TMIS.morph, a project in the sequence of TMIS (Topographic Mars Information System) projects, was the Austrian contribution to the international collaboration of “HRSC (High Resolution Stereo Camera) on MEX”, lead by Professor Gerhard Neukum (FU Berlin). The TMIS projects, beside providing a solid data management background of the huge datasets of the HRSC imagery and the derivative digital terrain models (DTMs) for the scientific research team, aimed at unconventional visualization, evaluation and automated extraction of selected Martian topographic features.

TMIS.plus.II - Maintenance and Extension of the Topographic Mars Information System (TMIS) and Processing and Analysis of Terrain Information from Mars Derived from HRSC Imagery

TMIS has recently been re-implemented and contains data covering some three quarters of the planet's surface. Besides maintaining the data catalogue, I.P.F. also uses the Mars DTM data for research activities in DTM analysis. In the course of the current project the focus is on areomorphologic analysis, in particular on generating highly informative visualisations.

VEDW - Versatile Electronics for Digitally Generated Waveforms

The present project has aimed at developing the critical building blocks of a Versatile High-end Signal Generator which can be used directly or only with few necessary modifications for a variety of applications. This approach has allowed Austrian Aerospace to acquire competence with new technologies and space components so the challenging technical problems can be solved in an innovative and forward-looking manner.

VSAT - VSAT Monitoring System

The physical RF link of VSAT stations, especially the quality of the MF-TDMA return link, is crucial for ensuring high quality satellite communication. An accurate aligned antenna minimizes interference and secures the best physical way of maximizing the Bit/Hz/Year ratio. The SIECAMS VSAT monitoring system allows terminal per terminal measurement of RF quality parameters dedicated to MF-TDMA traffic transmitted from VSAT satellite networks without service interruption.
